I didn't want this episode to arrive! The final episode of Seachange????
Anyway, the writers didn't let us down. Bob Jelly's "vision" for Pearl bay to be reconnected to the outside world is about to be realised as the bridge work is complete.
Laura hears the committal hearing of an elderly man charged with attempting to murder his terminally ill wife. A number of existing storylines continue as Carmen is due to give birth to Talula, Meredith and Harold are still seeking out their lost child and Meredith would like their relationshp to become more physical. She's not aware, however, that Harold's doctor has told him that strenuous exertion may be to much for his weak heart.
Laura and Dan go through hysterically funny trials and tribulations in an attempt to consummate their raging attraction for one another. In my view, this was the most entertaining storyline.
I found the Heather/Meredith/Harold storyline to be slightly tiresome. Bob Jelly's life ordinarily doesn't interest me except to the extent that it impacts on Laura or Dan but it was interesting to see how his daughter Jules comes to the fore when things get difficult.
The story of the terminally ill woman was very sad and it was interesting to watch that unfold. Difficult issues were discussed sensibly and plausibly.
Anyway - it was a nice, bittersweet ending to a lovely season. Even if Jack's arrival at the end was a rude shock.
